Protecting Webster’s Green Future

Alex’s Involvement

After retiring, one of the first ways I gave back to Webster was by supporting the work of the Open Space Committee.

Preserving our natural beauty isn’t just a cause — it’s a responsibility to our families, our property values, and our way of life.

I proudly stand with the Open Space Committee because they believe what I believe: Development should happen the right way —

not at the cost of our green spaces.

Why It Matters

  • Over 50% of Webster’s green space has been lost since 1974.

  • Webster’s semi-rural character — its forests, wetlands, and wildlife habitats — is disappearing.

  • Once it's gone, we can’t get it back.

The Open Space Committee is not anti-development.

They are pro-responsible development — fighting for smart, sustainable growth that protects what makes Webster home.

How the Open Space Committee Helps

  • Strengthens zoning codes to protect trees, wetlands, and wildlife.

  • Advocates for smarter land use and responsible development practices.

  • Defends greenspace from unnecessary clearcutting and overbuilding.

  • Raises community awareness through education and outreach.

  • Works to hold the Town accountable to its own Comprehensive Plan.

How You Can Help

We need your voice, your time, and your support.

Take action today:

  • Donate to the Open Space Committee’s GoFundMe to fund legal efforts protecting greenspace.

  • Sign the Petition to allow Webster residents a vote on an Open Space Referendum.

  • Complete the Resident Survey to make your voice heard.

  • Attend Town Board Meetings to show public support for protecting open space.
